Mahima’s personal style of therapy is holistic, insight and action oriented, while being grounded in deep emotional healing. She endeavors to help people to heal even the deepest of wounds, provide the gentle but firm scaffolding needed for positive change and empowering them to utilize their internal resources to progress successfully on their chosen path. The different therapeutic modalities mentioned below are different routes to the same end – healing and happiness.
  • Counseling and psychotherapy involve processes grounded in evidence based approaches. It can help people grow, change and move beyond their current limiting or problematic patterns of thoughts, emotions and behavior. It can also help in developing the skills and resources required to create and live a healthier, happier and more fulfilling life. Deep listening, empathy, genuine care for you well-being, safe holding environment, lack of judgment, honesty, respect, transparency, confidentiality, comfort and support, tools and techniques, clear goals and action plans and customized step by step approaches are some of the things you can expect in the sessions [across all modalities]. Some of the most commonly applied psychotherapies are Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Therapy, Family Therapy and Play Therapy.
  • Inner child therapy refers to the field of working with core memories contributing to a person’s current and often long-standing patterns of beliefs, feelings and responses. Unresolved negative experiences are often the foundation of the dysfunctional/unhealthy ways of understanding and interacting with our inner and outer worlds – of how we feel about ourselves, our relationships and our life situations even though rationally we often know better. We cannot change our history but we can change the impact of history by working through, repairing and healing those wounds therapeutically – helping us process, release and let go of the past, fulfil unmet needs and step into a healthier empowered present self.

  • Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation wherein access is available to our subconscious mind. The subconscious mind stores all our memories, thoughts, feelings, belief systems and experiences. Hence, it is the seat of the underlying causes of most if not all emotional, behavioral and psychosomatic/physical issues. Therefore, resolution at the subconscious level heals the issue from its core enabling long lasting change and relief. Typical media representations of being ‘controlled’ by the hypnotherapist, not remembering what happened during the session or divulging deep dark secrets against your will are inaccurate. Clinical hypnosis feels similar to a guided meditation and you can be guided into the hypnotic trance state only if you are willing. Your conscious mind remains aware and the therapist guides you through healing exercises using visual imagery and other processes. The state of hypnosis is experienced differently by each person, though is most commonly described as deeply relaxing.

  • Play therapy helps create therapeutic experiences for the child by utilizing their most natural state of learning and expression – Play. Play therapy goes beyond the limitations of adult-like talk therapy and cognitive work. It helps the child process, problems solve and develop various skills in creative, non-threatening, safe and fun ways. While diverse kinds of toys and art materials are often used, play therapy is not the same as general play. The sessions and therapist interactions with the child are grounded in specialized therapeutic training and are specifically geared towards the goals on hand, while honoring and nurturing their unique personality and developmental needs. Improvements are gradually seen without the sessions feeling serious or work like for the child.
